You really can't go wrong with Barbera. It goes with everything and is loved by all.
A particularly cold year at Shake Ridge Vineyards forced Ann to thin the grape clusters from the vine thus minimizing the grape's naturally occuring acidity. The remaining clusters ripened quite nicely with plenty of structure and elegance. She picked in two separate harvests (3 weeks apart). The result is a distinct blueberry aroma, subtle tannins, and an overall very enjoyable red wine. Particularly delicious with a grilled bratwurst and cup of spicy gazpacho.
